Reduce wrinkles and roll back the signs of aging!

Wrinkles and facial lines result from ageing, muscle activity (and over activity) and your genetic predisposition.

In addition, excessive sun exposure, alcohol consumption, emotional and hormonal influences and smoking can also increase the likelihood of wrinkles. Whilst you may be able to reduce or control some of the factors, you cannot influence all factors and that's why we all develop some wrinkles as we age. This practice can offer professional consultations and treatments to reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. Our practitioners have knowledge of head and neck anatomy and physiology together with training in the use of cosmetic treatments which can subtly enhance your appearance to make you look younger. If you are interested in talking about skin health treatments, please book a consultation appointment.

Botulinum 'Anti wrinkle' treatment for men and women

What is botulinum toxin?

Botulinum is a substance that is produced by a bacteria; it is then highly purified, diluted and used in therpeutic doses. Botulinum is administered by injecting it into a specific facial muscle where it acts as a muscle relaxant.

Who would benefit from this treatment?

Anyone can benefit from botulinum toxin, both men and women. Botulinum is most effective in improving lines or wrinkles due to facial expressions; for example, worry lines or frown lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows. This is because these lines are usually caused by overactive muscles and the treatment stops these muscles from contracting and causing wrinkles. You should not have treatment with botulinum if you are pregnant, breast feeding, have a neurological disease or a known hypersensitivity to it.

How long does the treatment take?

In most cases the treatment will take between 10 and 20 minutes. effects will begin to appear very quickly within 48 to 72 hours, although the full extent of the treatment may not be visible for up to 10 days. Approximately two weeks after the first treatment, the effects will be reviewed with your practitioner and any further treatments or top-ups can be discussed.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

Very tiny needles are used and only small amounts are administered. As a result any discomfort is usually minimal and short-lived, that's why there is no need for local anaesthesia.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

Initially, the improvements that you receive from this treatment will last 3 to 4 months. You will notice a gradual fading of effect and at this stage you can return for another treatment if you want to. With repeat treatments, the effects last longer.High Street Dental Care is the ideal place from where to get botox injections because our dentists are certified botox practitioners, fully insured and highly skilled at injecting with the knowledge of facial anatomy.

Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are non-surgical cosmetic treatments to bring a more youthful appearance by restoring volume or fullness to the face and lips. They work by reducing or eliminating lines, wrinkles, and folds in the skin and the effect is seen immediately after treatment. As skin ages, both naturally and because of other factors such as sun damage, smoking and poor diet, we lose collagen, fat and other natural moisturising substances from our skin. Think of these as the natural 'scaffolding' that keeps it looking young and feeling firm. with less of these, our skin becomes thinner and we start to see lines, wrinkles and folds developing. this is most noticeable on our faces.Dermal fillers can restore the lost volume in the face by plumping out lines, wrinkles and folds.

What are dermal fillers made of?

Various kinds of safe, natural and man-made materials are used as dermal fillers; these have been specifically developed over the years for use in the skin.  The non-permanent fillers, such as; Hyaluronic Acid derived Hydra Fill and Restylane, last for 6-12 months, depending on the site of application. and the formulation of the material used.

Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally throughout our bodies; in our skin, bones, joints, and eyes. It acts as a lubricant and moisturiser due to its ability to attract and store water. Hyaluronic Acid is clinically produced, usually from bacterial, not from animal or human sources.

Some well-known brands of dermal fillers in the UK include: Juvederm, Hydra Fill, Restylane, Matridur.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

Some products contain a local anesthetic and are quite comfortable to use on their own. Alternatively, a local anesthetic cream is used to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. for treatments near the mouth, such as lip treatments, your practitioner can freeze the area with an injection which is similar to a dental anesthetic. After the treatment, you will be given aftercare  instructions to maximise the benefits
